It has been confirmed that beloved stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear once again in the newest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The project is now in the works.
An Important Reunion for Fans
The actors are returning as Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the characters they made famous. It is believed their roles will take the form of a flash-forward sequence, considering the original saga concluded with their characters settled into family life.
This marks the sixth cinematic outing in the global Hunger Games franchise.
Exploring the New Story
Sunrise on the Reaping is based upon a 2025 novel by author Suzanne Collins. It acts as the follow-up prequel after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. For this project is Francis Lawrence, who directed most of the previous films in the series.

The film's narrative are set 24 years before the first Hunger Games, spotlighting a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, later known as Katniss's mentor, is portrayed as a tribute in the brutal 50th Hunger Games.

- Ralph Fiennes will appear as a younger version of the calculating President Snow.
