Nineteen of the Russian's 21 titles have been earned on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

Medvedev, a former number one, has had a challenging period, winning just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.

His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - led to him dropping out of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-time mentor Cervara.

Currently working with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested competitive victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's first title after the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court since spring of that year.

Success also indicates the Russian has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one various tournaments.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters at once, so to secure a trophy is really nice," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my child my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, comprising in that event in the past months.

The player's defensive play style and regular emotional displays on court had led observers to doubt if his capacity to perform at the elite level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and play assertively, supported by an improved serve.

Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, taking 4 of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

The pair traded break points in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his first professional championship, took control to push for a third set.

He defended four early-game chances in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, the winner earned the win with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
