Two individuals fatally injured in an attack on a synagogue in Manchester have been revealed by law enforcement as 53-year-old Adrian Daulby, and Melvin Cravitz, 66.

Three additional individuals remain in hospital with serious injuries after the assailant used an automobile into individuals before stabbing others on the morning of the incident.

The attack, which law enforcement has confirmed was a terrorist incident, occurred on the Day of Atonement, the most sacred occasion in the Jewish faith.

The perpetrator, who was killed by police at the scene, was a 35-year-old British citizen of Syrian heritage who was not previously identified to counter terrorism police, as stated by official statements.

Public Reaction

"We are devastated," the UK's Chief Rabbi stated.

In an interview with a major broadcast, he said: "The tragic incident was a terrible shock to us, something which actually we were fearing might happen because of the escalating tensions."

The attack was not only "a very dark time" for Jewish citizens nationwide "but for everyone in our country," he emphasized.

Security Measures

"Our responsibility is to ensure our Jewish population, our people can live their lives with safety and security," a senior government official announced.

"We cannot allow Jewish people in our country to feel compelled to live a reduced Jewish identity, that they cannot pursue their activities and follow their beliefs and go to their communal institutions in without fear," she stated.

The perpetrator was not identified to security services, she told media outlets, and it was "premature" to say if there was a organized group behind the attack.

Police Inquiry

The criminal probe was "continuing at pace" and there was an increased police presence at religious institutions across the UK.

"Authorities allocate protective measures," the minister commented, adding: "I think we will have to consider what additional measures we can implement to deal with rising antisemitism."

Greater Manchester police said they were providing help to loved ones of the two victims.

"Sincere condolences are with the families of the victims at this incredibly difficult period," law enforcement leadership expressed.

He indicated that designated family representatives were in contact with them and would maintain assistance through the official inquiries.

"While protocols must be followed which require adherence, we commit to being mindful of religious traditions and sensitivities and to making certain that the deceased and their relatives' requests are respected," he continued, mentioning that the two men were from the Manchester community.

Autopsies are being conducted on the following day, as confirmed by official sources.
